For Petra

I give my voice to sing a song of joy this glad morn,
For I can smell the aroma of the cake and frosting in the air.
It was on a day like this, sometime ago a girl was born,
And today she will celebrate the passing of another year.
Time has a way of turning even mountains into grains of sand,
Pressurizing coal until the carbon crystallizes into a gem.
It can write lines upon the faces, make a child out of a man—
But for Petra it has not even made her beauty even dim.
She writes the poetry that the rest of us aspire to write one day!
She teaches little children how to improve their minds.
She asks nothing in return as she selflessly gives herself away—
Advice is free, kindness sure, friendship something nigh divine…
So I hope with every line I write I can really let you understand:

Petrarch, glad you like the pink roses, they are from Hallmark and me. I figured you got beautiful tulips from Logos, so roses would be nice, too. By the way, Logos, I sometimes have requested tulips for my birthday I love them so much. I love all flowers but tulips are so springlike. I love pink roses and also my favoirte flowers are liliacs - just to clue you in.... for my birthday celebration.:lol:
