Here I sit all bewhiskered, with book in hand as lamp oil burns. The wind outside now just a whisper, thoughts digested, my mind now churns.

Best friend and I, my book and light, spend long hours in sweet company. A shot of whiskey quells the fright, as from the pages the wolves chase me.

Another log upon the embers I sit, and warm the chill from the pages I've found. A fresh bottle from the mantle I get, and pause at the sound... the howls of my hound.

I sit again upon my chair and howls, they fill the outside space! I look and hear the creaking there, and from my chair to the door I race!

Will I make it there in time, before the wolves break through my door? From somewhere I hear a chime, and find myself upon the floor.

Upon the floor, all curled up, beside my empty whiskey cup! I find myself all out of screams, that from my book, produced these dreams.

Can you sense the evil near, deep within my mind you peer. Tossed about your very soul, is the darkness... that's my goal! As you drift off into sleep, pray the Lord your soul to keep. If I come and you're not saved, I'll drag you down to a hellish grave.
Here this verse and listen well, lest you suffer the fires of hell. When I come I'll look so pure, by the Word you'll know for sure! Am I an angel from the darkness deep, here to take your soul to keep or an angel from above... here to take you to Gods' great love?
Now the tone is very somber as you rest within my umber. Lift up delicate mortal chin, soon the terrors will begin. There is no light for eyes to see, just your fate, the darkness and me! The hellish things you soon must see, are not from me... they come from thee!
When upon the world you stayed, you wern't an answer when they prayed. You did not comfort the sick and lost, you did not count the immortal cost. So, God... your soul, he gave to me, to launch it upon a fiery sea! The time has come, only now you see... thus your soul must come with me!
No more chances, oh... don't fall apart! I'll rip from you're chest the silenced heart! You're the soul no one can save! Now, come with me into your grave.

A child cries out, "I'm king, you fight!", upon the monkey bars' great height. A little one... she sits and weeps, thrust upon her the insults heap.
An older sister helps the girl, in her eyes she is a pearl. Another two... they've just found, they're ready for the first full round!
Oh my God... all hell's broke loose, they're fighting now like rutting moose! I step in to save the day, and break my leg within the fray!
The little **** came from above, and from the monkey bars did shove.... my aging body from the bar, for which I hobbled to the car. When rienforcements made it there, the playground was completely bare.

Mine eye doth dim upon the whim of some immortal force. I fear not death, with heaving breast, and the trembling of my chin. When death doth come and I succumb to that immortals wish, I pray that thee, upon my lips, wilt place thine loving kiss!
The time has come and... I must go, where others have gone before. Farewell my dear, shed not a tear... tis light behind the door!
Husband wait... pause at thine gate while I confess my sins! Dear wife of mine, there's not the time, my journey I must begin. I must depart, I leave my heart, the race my dear I win.
She grants the kiss, her loves last wish... forgiven of her sins.
Bidding him bye, he doth not die, he lives in a land above. Holding tight there is no fight from the man whom a lifetime she's loved.
Farewell my dear.

I will not fear my God is near, his will allows the storms. If I should die, I would not sigh, for God shall keep me warm.
No home have I except the sky and the ground beneath my feet. If I shall die beneath this sky, my saviour I will meet.
So if I perish, the Word I'll cherish and trust in faithful love. God, my father will rescue me and take me home above.
When that day should come, beneath the sun or rain of this cruel place? My body you'll see, but really not me... I've finished this toilsome race.

Now I lay me down to sleep... my eyes they close, I soon drift off. Playful dreams, my mind... it seeks, but evil things within it scoff!
They lurk at the edges of well lit scenes, gnashing thier teeth and wringing hands. Murderous murmurings come from the fiends, and gather they in ominoius bands.
I stir within my dream to run, to a yet unknown sanctuary. To find a place as bright as the sun, and escape the damned that won't stay buried!
Thank God I've awakened from this fitful dream, and no more chase will I endure. I look to the floor, at my side... and I scream! I thought I'd awakened... of this I was sure?

Thank you Gimmy. Reading some of the other posts.... I saw a thread asking to define love in one word? That I could do; however two words would be more appropriate with an exhaustive inquirey into them that seek to know. Thos two words are, "I Am".
