I am wondering what you think which book would be the best movie or game? And there are endless possibles for any book.

There is a rumor that A Princess of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs is FINALLY being put together for a movie from Disney(??!!?? (been hearing 'this one' for over 20 YEARS) but my buddy at the Bookery says the chosen director is in love with blue screen so my enthusiasm died. Can't remember who he said though.

But, Skycaptain and the world of tommorrow was blue screen, and that was an ok movie...

For the original question:

I think that it would be possible to make a good 'doc' savage movie.

I hope none of the books I like get turned into movies: the characters never look like what they should; they miss things out; and yes (as surprising as it is ;) ) they annoy me.

**Edit** Also I dislike the "crazy" element of fans who attach themselves to some films after they come out (fanfiction and all that stuff, if the author wanted that stuff they would've wrote it themselves)

I must agree with Kilted on this one. Adaptations are alright, but one is often unable to read the book afterward without seeing some actor's face...
I am, in spite of this, a bit intrigued at the prospect of the coming Atlas Shrugged trilogy...but then, I kind of had something like Angelina Jolie in mind for Dagny Taggart when I read it, anyway.

That is so true.
I have this image of what Edward, from Twilight by Stephanie Meyer, a must read!, looks like in my mind and seriously I will not have that destroyed by a movie. Sad thing #1 is that the movie is most likely to start production by the end of this year, and sad thing #2, I'll probably see it. *tear

Someday I'll figure out how to do the quotes from previous messages. In reply to Stanislaw: I'm glad you mentioned SKy Captain and the World of Tomorrow because that was the director being assignedJohn Carter. Now while blue screen is ok for a GREAT movie it's outdated and a bit on the lazy side; or worse a reflection of the money being put on the screen.

I liken John Carter to the Fantastic Four. Ask most of America who Spider-man and Tarzan are and you have a movie audience with expectation of a good movie experience waiitng for them. John Carter and Fantastic Four suffer by being great creations but they are NOT household names. The FF movie suffered greatly from Doctor Doom not being properly protrayed. Even Magento in the X-Men movie survived comics to movie transition relatively unscathed.

I therefore contend the 2nd FF movie and a first John Carter needs to get off to a great start to capture and hold a paying audience that does not suffer half measures.

By the by any Doc Savage movie would be a step up from the original which I have never been able to watch a second time and I've read all but one of the novels--can't find that last Bantam double and had to settle for reading the pulp copy--not that I'm complaining mind you.

P.S. Sam Raimi has signed on to do another Shadow movie. Hope springs eternal.

I would love to see Peter S. Beagle's The Last Unicorn turned into a movie; hopefully it wouldn't distort the faces too badly in my mind...I actually  wrote to Peter Jackson asking would he do it! But New Line seems annoyed with him - not sure how very intrinsic they are to his moviemaking.

Someday I'll figure out how to do the quotes from previous messages.you click your mouse over the "quote" under their message. then you can edit their message within yours. you can also type
like so before whatever they wrote, and the same
at the end, except with a / (forward slash) before the q. if i show you exactly how it goes, it will quote what i wrote, but i hope that helps! Also, when you do that, you'll be able to pick up on how people put in colours, italicize, etc. :)

the basic format, is [b] for bold
[i] for italics
for size
for color
for font
for you-guessed-it
[u] for underline.

with the forward slash directly [/] before any lettering at the END of your defined words/phrases. i probably left stuff out, so mea culpa in advance!! like with colors, sizes, and fonts, you only need to type [/color with the 2nd bracket, etc. you don't need to do do = again, or state the actual size, color or font again.

Assuming they did it right, I think Domain by James Herbert would make quite a good film. I mean, if a book could scare me, imadgen what a film could do if they did it right..

To Amuse--thanks for advice on quotes. My procrastination gland is in full secretion but I plan on practicing real soon with a favorite forum member. Yes I know I'm making this harder then it is. I miss my old electric typewriter.
