Why is Macbeth such a good play?

Probably because it's about murder and guilt. It's almost Dostoyevskian in character.

Macbeth has always been my favorite (I dislike Hamlet because he whines too much). The audience is introduced to a character who could have gone either way but -- to the Star Wars credo -- chose the dark side of the force. Was always impressed that though Lady Macbeth pushes her agneda on him --it's she that cracks under pressure and Macbeth just keeps walking tall to his doom. Made his bed he'll at least die gracefully in it. It's a great play about power, templation, loyalities true abd false. Has all the elements of an epic. Darth Vader was probably taking notes.

I like Macbeth because how it makes you think about fate. Is it predetermined or do you control it? The witches premotions/ predictions seemed to come true but in part only because Macbeth believeed them and did as they say. Also how just when Macbeth is about to stop with his plans, his wife eggs him on and when his wife has her doubts, Macbeth encourages her. Considering I am only a 6th grader and have only seen a short reproduction of it though, I am not sure I am the best person to take advice from on it.

Macbeth has to be one of my favourite Shakespearean plays. I love the idea of fate and destiny which is carried right through. I also think that the character of Lady Macbeth is absolutely fabulous - so vivid and complex - although I'd hate to actually meet her!

Well, since I've been in three productions, I can't even attend it any more, so it can turn sour on some.

It is a good play because it is short and direct and to the point. Also, the language is amazing -- really thick, really poetic, really powerful. It is stunning that such poetry is put in the mouth of a guy who, once on the track due to his wife, is a major killer. He says it is easier to go forward than to return back. Even ghosts can't get to him any more.

It can be really ghastly with all the bloodshed, and some people like horror -- not me thank you.

Good posts about fate and destiny, what is the cause of events. But, Hamlet is not a winer; good actors do not wine.

Also, the witches make for some interesting fanfare, which adds to the uniqueness and mystery of the play.
