get over yourselves.
Bill Murray?? That was definately lost in translation. Give me Robin Williams as a funnyman any day.

I'll see Lost in Translation tomorrow, but I agree. Bill Murray rules. I can't help laughing when I see him, even when he acts seriously. Have you seen Groundhog Day? It easily makes the Top 10 best comedies ever.
:o Oops, I didn't realize you were talking about an actual movie. Still I don't think Bill Murray is that funny, he might get a couple of chuckles out of me, but that's about it.

Yes, but Groundhog Day is his masterpiece IMO. I liked him too in Kingpin and Ed Wood.

The Royal Tenenbaums, what a great film. Mad Dog and Glory was killer. He is in a Jim Jarmusch flick, I can't get my hands on.

I saw LIT today, and truth be told, I was disappointed. The movie was ok, but that's it, nothing else. The story wasn't as deep as I hoped, the acting was simply correct (in Bill Murray's case, he doesn't shine in this movie, at least not in my opinion), and there's some heavy editing errors. You can even see the microphone above the actors in several shots. After seeing it, I'm surprised this movie was nominated for so many prizes. Of course, most of the times, the winners are not fair, but this is no competition for movies like Mystic River or Return of the King.
Oh well, at least the first scene was nice. :D

Tastes are tastes. That's ok.
Did you see the microphones? When I saw them I got really suprised, and thought "This is probably an attempt of humor, They'll probably repeat it again and again throughout the movie". But they didn't. It reminded me of the crappy national movies they made here in the 80's, with cameras showing in mirrors and stuff. :p

no, I didn't see them.

You CAN see a microphone above Bill Murray's head in several shots. It's during the scene in which they are on a sound stage filming a commercial ("For relaxing times, make it Suntory Times").
It's not an editing error: you're SUPPOSED to be able to see it.
BTW, if you want to see actual Western stars who have gone East to make a quick buck:

Basil, give me a little credit man. Of course I'm not referring to that scene. I was talking about real mistakes in the movie. There's a lot of scenes in which this happens. When the couple runs across the actress friend of the guy, for example. Check it out when it hits the video.
