I don't normally post poems, but as this one was inspired by negative online critiquing, I will post here in honour of that. It is not structured, very personal.

Rising

Your words can’t stop me
I’m faster now at returning
Faster at reasserting eternally
Unbound by your lies

I’ve been here before
Tasted rejection’s dirt too many times
And I never died
Never once did my passion end

I got back up and with wrath in my eye
Zeal in my hand, wrote my life away
My own destiny

Now it’s different
Now when you push me I don’t fall
I’m stronger than you

It is not what I am
But what I wish to be
And that wish will move this husk perpetually
Oblivious to all lies, all blows
All competitors will fade and die
As I rise

Not because of what I am
Not because I was born
But because of what I want
Because of the blood, the tears, the pain
I have borne and will continue

My scars, my mind’s muscle hard earned
This is what makes me strong, immovable
Yet ever advancing wall

My passion is not intuitive, it is learned spiritual
And like my immortal soul
It will continue while all mortal blows fall and fail
