[I need help]

I need to write about the similarities and differences between Dimmesdale and Chillingworth. Please post your comments. I read the book, and understood most of it, but I'm havign a hard time especially with the similarities...thanks a lot!

dimmesdale and chillingworth both sin in the book, their sins kill them at the end and were once and still involved with hester and both sin with her. chillingworth sins whrn he marries her even though he doesnt love her and dimmesdale commits adultry with her. differences are that dimmesdale confesses and chillingworth never does.

hey all! im new here but i thot i could really put some input into essay. i just read the scarlet letter in school and had to write a paper and do a debate on it so i understand it a little too well maybe. lol. First similarities, they both are involved with hester as the above has mentioned as well as both sinning. i think that another huge similarity in their characters tho is both of them are extremely selfish. Chillingsworth is desperate for revenge to only help himself (he talks about that to hester in the chapter where she confronts him about coming forward to reveal him to the community); and Dimmesdale shows his selfishness in the way that he acts from the beginning in not coming out with the fact that he is the father of Pearl. Another interesting connection really between the two is Pearl. Both of the men seem to love or in the least esp. when referring to Chilingsworth have affection for her (Dims support for her to be with her mom, the woods scene where he says they will all live as one big family; Chil in that he gives Pearl his whole estate). i think that the biggest similarity in their characters is that they both are complete hypocrites. well, i hope some of these similarities will help u with ur paper :)
