I was reading about Mars today - at howstuffworks.com - and more specifically, about the volcano known as Olympus Mons. This volcano is said to be the biggest in our solar system. Though the volcano is currently inactive, I had to wonder what sort of outcome an eruption might yield. I then wondered if for some reason an enormous eruption took place, might it destroy the entire planet? Then the superior question flashed within my mind. Could the destruction of Mars effect our planets orbit? I am almost sure that the answer is a definite yes, the occurrence would most likely have some effect upon our planet. My point being, we should consider the protection of 'all' planets occupying our solar system. Any potential impacts with any of the planets should be deflected, if possible. Any potential interference with any planet's stabilization, should produce the greatest intentions of counteraction. If precautions are not made, the entire solar system might suffer. An alteration of planets' obits around the sun can trigger the most egregious occurrences; least in my ponders. So, there is a little insight on my minds thoughts.
