Well, recently I've delved into the art of poetry. Something I've steered clear of in the past because I've mainly stuck to writing fiction. Anyways, looking for some opinions, outlines, definitions, advice etc. on what exactly a good poem consists of, how to go about writing good poetry and the like. Thanks.

You Can Write Poetry by Jeff Mock is the best, most concise book about how to write poetry. I used it to teach my students and it worked great. I'd been writing poetry for years, but when I did some of the same exercises that I assigned my students out of this book, my own poetry improved! Higly recommended.
