Oh, those are all fabulous guesses. To clarify my middle name would be the "c", so Caroline, Claire, Capulet are all fine choices. The "f" is for my last name, so disregard that.

What makes this a little sad for me is I know unless I resort to legal measures I will never have the middle name of "Zaglophlugm"...:bawling: Curse you, cruel fate!

More wonderful guesses folks. I will give you another hint:

My middle name is thought of more as a surname.
It was my mother's before she married.
It can also be used as a first name for a man.
It is Irish in origin.

Maddie: nope, my middle name is a first name. It's Hebrew. Aguilera is Spanish, I think. The singer has the same first name and her surname starts with an H.

If I am not misunderstanding Maddie's post, you are not sure what a middle name is?

Mary Elizabeth Carrots...Elizabeth would be the middle name.
Robert John Turnip...ditto John.

The examples you give are really part of the last name or surname.

Muriel Susan Van der Beek so Susan would be the middle name, and Van der Beek is the surname.

Madhuri
01-23-2007, 02:38 AM
I am not sure if this is a middle name - van and van der. I understand that these are very common surnames and there will be many 'van's' and 'van der's' but there wont be many 'Mary Elizabeth Carrots'. Isnt it??

It really is a surname. Now are we guessing Sleepy's and Aimus's middle name, both??

Lets start guessing again, give us some hints Sleepy and Aimus. :)

Anastasia. its hebrew and a singers name. Also my mams name but she spells it anastatia.

I don't think it's Anastasia because it's greek.Maybe Ann? At least this name is mentioned in Byble...

Niamh
01-23-2007, 01:55 PM
My mam has always told me it was Hebrew and in some dictionaries of first names it's hebrew. means resurrection. Others say greek. As far as i'm aware theres an Anastasia in the bible some where. But o well! One dictionary might say one thing, one might say another.

Well, may be you're right... I just told what I know about it... This name is rather popular in my country.
Here is what I've found: "...It's root is Greek. It comes from Greek "anastas" - resurrection... (that's right).

SleepyWitch
01-25-2007, 05:50 AM
nope, it's none of them.
come to think of it, i never knew the name was Hebrew until I looked it up on behindthename.com the other day.
maybe it helps not to think of it as a Hebrew name.
the singer is black (I suppose?) and does R&B and pop

No, Mary is a derivative of Miryam. It's meaning is not known for certain, but there are several theories including "sea of bitterness", "rebelliousness", and "wished for child". However it was most likely originally an Egyptian name, perhaps derived in part from mry "beloved" or mr "love".
