I'm writing an essay on Verne's attempts to create local colour in "Around the World in Eighty Days", and I was wondering if anyone had any information on Verne's life and whether he travelled much during his lifetime. I'm trying to find out how much of his work was written with actual experience of the places he was writitng about, but I'm finding it a bit difficult to find much biographical info on him.

Can anyone help?

The local colour is....

Brown, or Greenish-Brown

This is what I know, beside traveled around Europe with his yacht, Verne did some travels with his brother Paul to to the United States, visiting the Niagara falls, then made a boat trip around the Mediterranean, Gibraltar, and North Africa.

Sorry, not much any help :)
