Well I'm back at the office after an amazing holiday to Capetown(South Africa to those that dont know)
Capetown is an amazing city, with a rich heritage and a cosmopolitan mix of people.
I thought I'd share some of the pictures with you guys.

This picture was taken on Table Mountain, I'm really surprised it came out alright 'coz there was lots of cloud cover. The flower in the picture is called 'Fynbos'.

All the house around the one part of the city are painted really bright colours.
Theres an interesting story behind this.

Those photos are beautiful! Is that how Capetown is? Wow. Beautiful streets. I wonder, though, it seems like the village just came out from a Dr. Seuss story. :p

Well, the villages had to come from somewhere, hence the big head seuss had... Or not, but It's still a beautiful place... Cape Town that is, I'm not so sure about the big head.

Glad you guys liked those pics. The story behind those brightly coloured houses, the area is called the "Bo-kaap" back in the arpartheid era of South Africa there was a law called THE GROUP AREAS ACT which meant that if you were not white you could not not live in a "white area". This meant that people of colour were forcefully moved and all 'packed together like sardines'(hence the house being built close together).
It's a case of the triumph of the human spirit, the people who lived there decided to make the most of their situation and painted their houses really bright colours to make them look more fancy. Theres also a sense that it's kinda like "keeping up with the jones's " neighbours try and outdo each other by painting their house brighter.
The community is made of coloured Cape Malay muslim people, who are very friendly and hospitable.
