but don't tell her I said that!!! I went home for Christmas and my Mom kept telling me to slow down and rest a bit or I'll get sick, but i poo-pooed the warning. Now instead of going to Chicago for New Years I'm sitting at home surrounded by tissues and tea cups.
It drives me crazy when she's right.

Oh, feel better Papaya. You should have gotten a flu shot. Drink plenty of fluids, and I don't mean the alchololic type. :)

Oh Papaya, I hope that you feel better. :)
Yeah, but here is something that might make you feel better, because it proves that mommies are not always right. :p Yeah, you can be right as well. :p
My mother gave me a big lecture to study hard for my English exam, but as naughty I am, I paid no heed to her. She betted that my exam would go bad because I had studied very little. And then, my exam went very well. :P
Here is another one which happened when I was little girl.
My mother bought lots of dried apricots and told me that if I would eat them all, I would get very ill. I am a dry fruits-lover so as you might have expected I ate the whole lot of them, but I did not get ill. That's another thing my mother's scolding when she saw all of the apricots eaten made me near-to-ill, but it was not "very ill." Was it? :p
So, shall I go along saying, "Never listen to mom"? :D ;)

Oh no, get better soon, Papaya !
*hurries to kitchen to press some fresh orange juice for Papaya, and fetches a good book for her*
I hope your Mom doesn't rub it in that she was right :p.

My mother is one of the successful people.
She`s one of those whose words always come true, but she has no chance rather no luck.
Her advices are always hard for me, I try my best to take them into consideration, except for this one that says "take your earrings off and put girlish ones, you`ll look decent." =)

Get better papaya! I have to get flu shots, I wish I didn't; I'm on the "high risk" list or something. Take this as a chance to have lots of ice cream and milkshakes (if your throat hurts). :) And tea is always nice.

The flu sucks, you have my greatest sympathy.
And moms aren't always right. My mom used to tell my brother and I that we would get sick from all the raw chocolate chip cookie dough we used to eat and we never did, so sometimes it's alright to ignore their advice. ;) :p

That's true as well, my mom also used to tell me that if i ate too much ice cream my hair would fall out...

You know, I've been sitting here trying to think if my mother every gave me one good piece of advice. she made me appreciate rain. she showed me how to make a mean Red Velvet Cake. but advice. I don't think so. It's kind of curious to think about it.. I think my dad told us what to do a lot, but never exactly offered any advice.
I hope you feel better, Papaya. Listen to some Jimmy Buffett!
wehn i listen to my mum i most often end up regretting it and realise i would have been better off if i didnt listen to her advice...
but she's not the allmighty kind of mum, and i say taht in a good way, no hard feelings, but she gives bad advice and always burns food ;)

My mother always told me not to sit down on a cold bench at the bus stop in winter, it would give me pneumonia. Does one get pneumonia from a cold butt?
Mothers sometimes give good advice, sometimes bad...but remember, even when they are wrong, they are "right". :p

My Mom is always a good barometer for friends/boyfriends. Everytime she met someone she didn't like she would say "watch that one" and sure enough there would be trouble....Now I'm wondering if this wasn't a self fulfilling prophecy???

It could have been...who knows? Maybe your mother has a good BS detector. Hope you're feeling better BTW.

It's like in the matrix...where one has to wonder if neo would have broken the vase or not, if the oracle had not said anything about it...:D

Wow, that's an evil one ! :D
I always listen to my Mom when it comes to boyfriends, she's not that easily to be impressed as me :D. But my Mom has the worst taste in books, and I never ever act on her recommendations as to reading. Same goes for fashion :D.

You're easily impressed??? :goof: Could have fooled me. :p
and to be somewhat on topic for a change: I always listen to the advice my mom gives, and proceed to prove her wrong... It's a very bad habit of mine. :D
