Ok I hope this is the right place for this. I was looking in my bookcase for a book and I can't find it. I read it a few years ago and wanted to reread it (I do this every so often). Anyways, here goes:
It's about a boy who is traveling through the desert (he's like going hiking, camping under the stars etc...). One night when he's sitting at his fire, he see's this blue light like a beam shining down from the sky on the ground, and he goes to investigate. *I forget what happens here, but I think he like walks into the light or it suddenly surrounds him* and he wakes up in a like jungle. So anyways, he think's he's been transported to a different planet. So anyways, he hangs out for a while, trying to find food and all and meets like some little animal who he names and makes friends with and all, and like he meets some natives. So he becomes close to these natives and he like lives with them and starts to fall in love with this one and lives with them for like months. While living with them, they show him *artifacts* from the past, and they show him a piece of glass with the Coke logo on it, and he realizes, he isnt on a different planet, but has been transported to the future. So then he finds out about a guy in this city nearby (its like not really a city but its a guy who's like really smart and all wise or something). He goes and meets this guy and finds out about how a horrible disease overtook humans and forced them back into this stoneage like living world and he wants to go back to his own time, and him and the guy dont get along and the guy starts chasing him i think, and somehow he like ends up in a cave or something and finds sulfur and some other element and like makes explosives or somethin like that. Then a while later (can't remember much anymore) the blue light appears again and he goes back in time to his own time and he becomes a famous doctor and figures out like a bazillion cures for the disease that put humankind into its peril.
So yeah that wasn't a very good description but i tried my best. If anyone knows what this book is, please let me know, i know i had it at one time but i probly lost it or something somehow and really want to get it back. Thanks a lot!
