I hate to leave you guys, but I have a rather long to-do list for the winter vacation:

Catch up on my reading for next semester
Break my seven-doses-per-day addiction to caffeine
Relax
Listen to Sigur-Rós whilst watching it snow
Go snowboarding, also while listening to excellent music
Some Christmas romance (fingers crossed)

Sorry guys, but I just can't get all that done and maintain a Lit-Net presence at the same time. After tonight, I wish you all an eminently plesant celebration of the winter solstace, and I hope to see you all happier and healthier in the new year.

P.S. I promise to put up an actual entry in my weblog when I get back.

Have a great time, Joe! I wish I had the fortitude and backbone to drag myself away from this place for the next couple of weeks. ;) It is sounds like an admirable attempt at productivity (relaxation is productive). We'll be here when you get back.

Goodbye cuppa! I look forward to your return but agree that sometimes a "vacation", no matter how reluctant one might be to take it, is best and like Jean said productive, at least for personal health if anything. I have very much enjoyed reading your posts for the time i have known you, all very well articulated and insightful. :) The best of luck for you in all you want to achieve! :D

Hi all. I'm back. I got everything done except 4 and 5. It hasn't yet snowed enough for 4, and I'm scheduled to do 5 on Saturday.

Anyhow, it's good to be back.

Reading: all my novels read except Middlemarch, which I have a good start into and Invisible Man, which is the last thing I have to have read for the course.

Romance: She left me rather abruptly and unexpectedly, just the other day, in fact. Ah well, we remain friends.

huh so the reading was school related I forgot that invisable man thats verne or well or one of that lot isnt it? Or is that the hollow man?
What is it your studying again? and middlemarch luck with that mind you now that ive survive woolf maybe I could survive that??

Im getting to investigate english literature from the long 18th century want to swap??

:p
well not really I got to choose the subject matter and I am enjoying it if the unviersitys only had effective holdings even the lit students complain bitterly about lack 18th century related holdings. and it seem no one in all manchester holds any of the hundreds of journals realted to 18th centuries studies.

No no, The Invisible Man is Verne, Invisisble Man is a 1954 American novel by Ralph Ellison about the travels of a black American. English is my major (for the moment), and I the novels were for my American and English literature classes. I really like Middlemarch so far, actually. My English class is a survey, so I'll be spending the first third of my semester on the 18th Century as well.

hey well by then well by monday my study guide will be perfect . ( have to write a study guide for undergrads studying literature from c18-L (1688-1830)

so by then if you need any pointers towards a resource or the dewey number (823.509 and 820.9) just ask. It would be nice to know the hassel has helped someone.

and I thought 'the' didnt count I tell that would majorly mess up alot of libary search system they just ignore 'the' altogether.

Actually, The Invisible Man is H.G. Wells, but yes, it's an important "The," nonetheless. Welcome back, cuppajoe!! :D
