Escapism mainly. Want to have some fun. Other reason is the suggestion of books. All those threads people started about "book recommendations", I got a lot from them. The books I have read inspired from lit-net members' thoughts about them, most of them were surely great! I want to read more good books. And sometimes it feels good to discuss them.

Why stick to LitNet? It's fun. It's real. It's cheaper than therapy, less maintenance, free.

For me, it's the duct tape. Duct tape and camaraderie. Oh, and books and games and fun and lots of very nice folks who make me smile.

For a person like me, who is more like a frog in a well, this place has given a lot of exposure, and what better way to know people across the world through this means, it is not feasible to take a world tour to meet so many people. If I had controlled myself in the beginning, I wouldnt have been here, but I didnt know what I was getting into, which I think has been good for me, as I have friends now, and I need to know how they are doing from time to time, and leaving this place without knowing all my friends will be okay is a bit difficult. That's why I stick to it. Not to mention the fun factor, which is very obvious in my case, as I am always in the general chat or games section. :D

Hot glue hurts. But it's a good pain.

That... made me laugh... very hard.

For me, it's finding people who spell, punctuate, and have actually heard of the books I like. One of my friends claimed she loved to read, and I was so happy... then I found out what she liked to read was corset-ripper dimestore novels. *weeps*

So far, I have enjoyed my time on LitNet. Everyone has been nice so far, with the exception of those occasional trolls who come through here and start posting things that are obviously offensive. And then there are those who are more subtle.....

I like listening to smart people talking (and there's no shortage of them around here). I like "listening in" to people engaging in discussion over whatever strikes them. I like the camaraderie that shows up among the posters in these forums (or maybe that's just a skillful use of duct tape? :D ). I like using parallel structure.

Must admit, likin' games. And "Ducttape and Camaraderie" would be a great chat . . . my friend would probably come for that, she likes to make things out of ducttape.
I think I'm stuck due to an inverse propotionality between the amount of homework I have and how soon it needs to be done. The more homework, due really dang soon, means I stay up until twelve associating words . . . :) Oh well. :) Y'all are too cool to leave.

What a fascinating?

I didn't intend to post this thread like this- too scanty, I suspect. But fortunetly (or unfortunetely?) it just went and later decided to leave it like that because of my time that had ran down, almost finishing. And to my surprise, when I came back, I see plenty of rsponses afterward. Its perhaphs short to many I know but quite precise. What a real fascinating this Site is? I like it and its members entirely. You are all wonderful, doyen, reasonable and all other good quality of human you do posses it.

Thanks and may oneday we're gonna have a meeting which all of us will be present and will again see (maybe hug) one another.:thumbs_up :thumbs_up :thumbs_up

I never would've thought of joining a forum on literature, it's more of Toni's thing; true enough, she got here first and seeing how fun it is here, I was so excited about joining that the day before I became a member, I started posting using Toni's name until I got mine! http://www.websmileys.com/sm/dressed/bek095.gif

And here are the reasons why:

1. Uncle Virg excited me. He's actually the reason why I browsed in this forum.

2. I think it made me smarter.

3. People here don't use offensive words.

4. The creative Games.

5. The interesting topics.

6. The intelligible people.

7. The smart people.

8. The nice people.

9. The friendly people.

10. My Uncles.

And I hope LitNet lives on til after we see each other face-to-face! I like that idea! http://www.websmileys.com/sm/dressed/bek099.gif

Because of the elevated conversations I can have with fellow book nerds. I don't think you can find that anywhere else. Everyone is also so very nice here, and new members (or any other members, for that matter) don't get ignored like on other forums.

These forums have become a bit of relaxation from the mundane day to day routine of my life. A chance to learn perspectives, balance, compassion and humbling as well as some strengthening of some of my beliefs/idiosyncracies. A chance to be myself, warts and all and be welcomed, noticed/unnoticed, tolerated and encouraged/discourgaged and yet never totally rejected -- after all these years I still have high school nightmares, (along with certain three Air Force ones that seem to rotate every week or so) and a horror of exclusive cliques. Heres thanks to the warm-hearted members here and you the comfort you probably don't realize you give me.

P.S.--To Robinhood my favorite bowman is finally back to comicbook life. Unless Bendis is setting me up again.

Muhsin! You've got everything mixed up! Toni is my younger sister in real-life. Virgil and Pendragon are members in this forum whom I have grown very fond of, that's why I call them my Uncles. Ofcourse, they can't be blood-related to me: both of them are Westerners. And Robin, treating Uncle Pendragon as his big brother, as he says, technically can be my Uncle too, because they're brothers. Gets, Muhsin? http://www.cosgan.de/images/midi/frech/c045.gif

I'm still in high school, surrounded by people who only seem to want to talk about the recent fashion doohickey, or party they went to, or who they slept with.

Not really an intelligent conversation. Here, there is silliness, but at the same time, it has a more mature feel to it.

Don't understand well. Do you mean here there are no such people and so they leave to meet up with them somewhere else? Or you actually mean otherwise?
