I've just recently read Wuthering Heights for a class assignment and really enjoyed it. I have an essay topic on "dual personalities" of some of the characters of this novel and seeking some opinions or comments.. anything that would help, really!
Firsly, I think that Catherine's heart and mind are divided. She loves Heathcliff but marries Edgar, whom she has a more conventional relationship with. Heathcliff loves Catherine, but he is a very cruel person towards others. And lastly Nelly Dean is used as both a narrative device and a character that influences events and outcomes.
What do you think?
