I dont understand of the reason because he was smart of how it makes since. This is probably a very easy question. But i need help. so if anyone could tell me. let me know the answer to this.
Thank You!

Your English class was right, Syme was vaporized because he was smart. The reason for this can be found when Syme is explaining Newspeak to Winston. Syme explains the reasons why language is being destroyed-he understands what he is doing. This is not what the party wants; the party wants unthinking loyalty, if someone understands the system, then they could end up disagreeing with it, so Syme is dangerous to the party, he knows what's going on.

Think about the character of Syme in the novel: he is constantly thinking of ways to improve the party through communication- and he's a genius at it. Now think about the goal of teh party: to keep everyone in absolute, ignorant obedience. They want people like Syme to do their jobs for them, but not as well as he did it. Snice Syme is a genius in communication,a practice that is strictly monitored, if he gets smart enough about it, then he may tap into something he isn's supposed to. Intelligence is a wary, rare quality outside of the Inner Party: people like Syme are going to eventually be vaporized because of their risk of figuring "it" out. Hope it helped,
