I have just finished reading the Nobel Prize winner My Name Is Red by Orhan Pamuk. There are some knowledge of the religion and history i'm not familiar with and find difficult when coming across them and I simply skip them:p .
The style of the narration is quite new and attrative to me as every chapter is narated by a single person or even thing in the first person tone. The content is focused mainly upon the murder but it also touches upon lots of topics such as the love between lovers, the run after money and reputation, the loyalty towards one's religion and country and so on. Another fascinating feature of the story is the abundant meanings of a certian material. For example, red itself can be described as the blood on a dead soldier, the strong sunshine, the rose beside a beauty, etc. The pictures described in the book are all of rich emotion and meaning, though i can't exactly explain as i have a poor knowledge of the background.
Have anyone of you read the book? I'd like to hear your comments!:flare:
