Hello Dears,

How r u all. Is there any dear one who have read "The Zahir" by Paulo Coelho? At the last page of the novel Esther have told the author (her husband) that she was pregnant by someone who had stayed there for a while and then left. I could not have come to know what was that about?
Is there anyone who could clear it to me as i am very confused about it.

Regards,

Hi, Santiago.

I haven't finish this book and only got to the part where the young man (I forgot the character's name) performed in a stage, in which he looked as someone who has special gift. So, regret that I can't help you out.

Welcome on board, by the way.

The man who made Esther pregnant left. The whole point of 'The Zahir' is how people can get possessive etc something that easter wanted to escape from. in her new life she wanted complete freedom and expression in all things to do with love and life. when she fell pregnant she didnt make the man stay because she didnt need him and was happy. that chapter of her life with him had closed and therefore there was no need to hold him back.

Hi all,
hoping that someone might be able to help me out by reminding me of the author's name in Paulo Coelho's 'The Zahir', I wish to refer to his wife Ester whilst describing my own 'zahir' and since his name isn't used all that much, it has escaped from my mind. As far as I was willing to scour the internet the only result I found was Michael Gardiner but that doesn't sound even remotely right. Much appreciated.

I guess the title of this book must have been taken from the Jorge Luis Borges short story of the same name.
