You're cast away on a desert island with plenty of coconuts, warm sunshine, and a CD player! if you could have just three albums with you, what would they be?

Here's my selection:

1. Pink Floyd, The Wall (double/triple CDs count as only one!) :D
2. U2, The Joshua Tree
3. Nora Jones, Come Away With Me

I would take three CDs that I burned from my mp3 collections and these three CDS would contain songs from the following artists/albums:

1) Pink Floyd the Wall (but not Hey You, Another Brick in the Wall or Comfortably Numb since I've played these songs to death and can't bear to thear them anymore

2) Selected Led Zeppelin songs (but not Stairway to Heaven since I have played it so much that I can't bear to hear it anymore)

3) Old Crow Medicine Show

4) Metallica (Probably just Orion and Creeping Death since I have played the rest of it so much that I can't bear to hear to hear it anymore)

5) Mozart - Queen of the Night

6) Some new age music that you might hear on Hearts of Space (so that I can get my rest)

Ween! Make it Ween!
(Or burn a bit of both onto a CD and call it "Weenies" - thump-thump, crash)

Ja, but Jon said we could have 3 "albums" :cold: but if we could burn our own 3 CD's it would take me forever to decide which songs! :p

great selections Shalot! i agree with you about Hey You, but that's a classic we ought to keep that one, no? hey it even showed up in a recent movie, The Squid and Whale. anyway, burnt CDs don't count, "albums" only, so i think you owe us one more!

Riesa: I am assuring all stranded parties a lifetime supply of batteries!

Hm...

1)Sara Groves - All Right Here

2)Bebo Norman - Myself When I Am Real (Bebo Norman FTW)

3)Barbara Streisand - The Broadway Album
which barely beat out:
Reba McEntire - Read My Mind
Simon and Garfunkel - The Essential Simon and Garfunkel
Emmy Lou Harris - Stumble Into Grace

Why is it harder to pick your third CD than your first two?!

hm... only 3? hey, I'm a bore and never listen to music, but even I would need more than 3

so it's either:
LotR soundtracks one to three

or:
1) Son of the Velvet Rat: Playground
2) Meat Loaf: Bat out of Hell II (Back into Hell)
3) Hannibal Soundtrack

hm, some Dire Straits, more 60s would be nice too. shame I can only take 3 CDs...

Hard hard!!!! Grrr... (I am beginning to remind myself of a puppy with all this grrrr...ing going on)

1. Skillet-Comatose album
2. Probably one of my praise and worship albums
3. Incubus-Make Yourself

But I already wear these albums out listening to them in my car...on an island, well I think I would play them until they're dead.

Squee! Isn't she the awesomest?! Even better, I live in her hometown, so every so often she comes back and gives a concert. I got to see her live last New Year's, in a church only about five rows back from the front! It was way cool! I would have 'brought' her new one, "Add to the Beauty," but "All Right Here" was the first one I got and I've 'broken in' some of those songs a little more.

I would like to change my third pick, though--from Barbara Streisand's Broadway Album to RelientK's "Mmhmm". I've gotta have something to jump around to, don't I?

Erm, I was never big on albums really...buuuut, within the rules of the 'game', I would choose:

Iron Maiden - Killers

While I prefer Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden, Killers is longer with more variaty, and would thus last longer before becoming painful. Plus I'm dying to learn the lyrics to Prodigal Son so I can ruin it with my crappy voice.

The Sisters of Mercy - Some Girls Wander By Mistake

A large album with a variety of songs by the Sisters, many of which have lyrics I would love to learn, so there is that aspect. Also, it doesn't contain a single overplayed Sisters song, which is great!

Now I'm a little stuck. I'm tempted to say one of the Birthday Massacre albums, but the albums by themselves are farely naff. The Final Fantasy: Advent Children soundtrack, but I have overplayed that recently. Scatterbrain - Infernal Angels, but while it is an amazing psionic trance album, I'm just not in the mood enough.

So I guess I will say...

All About Eve - The Best of All About Eve

While I dislike 'best ofs', I do adore this CD, and thus, it would be joining me to the Island.

Actually, I like to cite RelientK as proof that I am inherently unboxable. ^_^ They're so wildly divergent from anything I normally like, and I like them so friggin' much, that I really kind of wierd myself out. Really it's their lyrics I love so much--the upbeat, rocky thing is just an added bonus. I mean:

I watched the proverbial sunrise
Coming up over the pacific
and you might think that I'm losing my mind
But I, will shy, away from the specifics...

How cool is that?? So yeah, if Skillet has blow-your-mind awesome lyrics, I'm likely to like them, too. ^_^
