I was in search of an interesting forum for the reader in me.
I found you and am very anxious to know you better.
I am still young and I like understanding things right, for that reason I read mostly classic literature. I have also an inclination for philosophy and analysis so the classical illustrations do me good.
Still I live in the time we all live in and sometimes I need to read people that understand our times and then I find me a companion among classics of the 20th century.
I am burned of a big fire to write, but I find it very difficult, so I … you know.
I did not read The DaVinci Code of Dan Brown and I will not read it but,
I did read The Alchemist by Paolo Choelo, out of curiosity.
This is me.
I am eager to know just as much or more about you and I will salute any feedback.
A nice evening !

Welcome to the forums Sir Dove...It will take a while to get used to the site, and I believe that you may have wanted to post in the introductions. I too read a lot, and loved the Alchemist. I fought the DaVinci Code, but did eventually. It is difficult to read only classics, especially once you've read so many. Sometimes lighter fare is pleasant, mindless fodder. Have you read any Tolstoy? War & Peace is wonderful, don't be afraid of its length.
I hope you like it here.

Nice to meet you Nightshade!
Hello B-Mental!
I am really pleased to find in you an admirer of Tolstoi. I confess I was once in a blue lazy mood and I thought of reading his Anna Karenina. But it seem to me too boring and cliché-like so I let it away for a lazier mood. Anyway I often come about his name and it sounds like it might be something for me. We have time.
But tell me please, for what reasons are you such a friend with Tolstoi?

I'm an avid reader, and I go through phases i.e. french romantics, russian romantic, american expatriates.... Anyways, I just found that Tolstoy's best work was W&P. I could recommend the Death of Ivan Illych as shorter reading. Anna was overlong in my opinion, and I found I couldn't agree with her personality. Both Anna and W&P give you great historical background into russian life, but the way that W&P was wrapped around the historical background of Napoleon's conquest of Russia is very well done. I guess when it comes to classics, I just put Tolstoy near the top. He worked so very long to find just the right way to convey his sentiments.

Nice to meet you, Sir Dovesin!
I, on the other hand, found this wonderful forum while searching on Shakespeare's biography. Actually, it was a choice between shakespeare-online.com this website, but I thought I would find more authors here, so there.
wow. If you like philosphy, go over the philosophy thread! I'm sure you'd find topics there that would interest you. Have fun! :D
