Hi!
I'm looking for ideas on "genre and literary gender" in p and p.
i've thought about all the literary genres pand p seems to belong to: romance, epistolary novel with its share of letters, comedy of manners, bildungroman (elizabeth growing emotionally and growing to know others and herself), fairy tale with the perfect ending, the price charming and the poor but beautiful heroine.
i find difficult to relate those to the gender question...
Of course, it's an essential topic: women have to marry well (financially speaking of course since nobody cares if they're happy) especially the Benett sisters because of the entail of their dad's estate, they must be accomplished and can't work (how disgraceful and shocking!!!!).

Can you help me please?

marie h;)

Hi!

i've been thinking about a plan for my essay:
I) P and P as comedy of manners, romance and fairy tale:
I plan to show how the marriage motif is only important to women, and inequalities between genders.
II) P and P as bildunsroman:
I'm gonna show how different characters evolve, relating to their sex
III) literature referred tyo in the novel:
conduct books
the book Mr collins tries to read to the benetts
letters
i'll try to show how these books were written by men for women

What do you think about it?
Can you give me more ideas?
In short, I'm interested in discussing this subject.
i hand in the paper tomorrow but all ideas after or before the deadline interest me! ;)

thanks! :yawnb:
