I just wanted to give a brief farewell to toni and laindessiel while they part from us for a short while due to the evil that is blackouts. We will miss you guys!!! I wish you an abundance of flashlights and candle-lit reading to the both of you:D
That is so sweet of you, dearie dramasnot! I love you!this fellow alien is very touched...
Luckily, we are not experiencing blackouts yet, and true we will be reading for the rest of the time because this happy alien went book shopping yesterday! she bought:
Hard Times ~ Charles Dickens
The Age of Innocence ~ Edith Wharton
Crime and Punishment ~ Fyodor Doestoyevsky
on top of all that, she has to finish 3 more Oscar Wilde plays, and a backlog of newspapers since last September..
So I'll be reading in the dark.
I hope the darkness will inspire me to write a poem for the poetry contest...:(

Blackouts? What exactly does that mean? Well, if you must go, please come back, and if you get all that reading done, you'll come back even more intelligent. :)

We're not going anywhere! If, and only IF we ever have blackouts in this country due to those pesky typhoons will we be HESITANTLY leaving this forum! As of now, only a region south of where we are in the Philippines has experienced a blackout and hope it won't happen in the Metro! Thankfully, we've only had strong winds and scattered rainshowers every now and then but it's not that serious. At least not a part in the country has been damaged costing to billions in Pesos, like the previous storm. :rage:
Please don't say goodbye :(...not temporarily, not permanently, not ever!

Lain and Toni
It seems to me you live your lives,
Two candles blowing in the wind,
Before you both the darkness must give
It's fighting a battle it cannot win.
The water rages, winds may rise,
And stir up that old Typhoon.
But the storm must face two pairs of eyes,
They do not fear that old buffoon!
The wind blows in a fierce gale,
Making waves rise and dance about--
But even if it were the Breath of Hell
It couldn't snuff those candles out...
To my lovely nieces over there upon a foreign shore:
Make your candles shine brightly now and forever more...

Just had to recover from the instantaneous intake of sighs that wonderful poem of yours inspired, Uncle Pen. You are a lovely and kind person, you know that? And I love you so much, you know that? :) First time anyone's ever dedicated a poem to me...*still sighing......* You're making me weep...
I love you.....

How horrible Kilt! Hope it never happens to us! But based from the weather report, the pesky typhoon has gone away from us (!) leaving only its tail behind that causes just minor rainshowers and strong gales. I don't know where it will spread its hellish nature this time around but usually when a storm hits our country, it's off to the South China Sea. :(

Oh, dear. It's not heading towards China or Taiwan, is it? I have a close friend (who I should touch base with sometime, actually) who wanted to go on missionary work in China when I last saw her - I worry if she might be there.
