Sonnet For Amuse Birthday

How does it happen that a poet by the name of Amuse
Comes here and yet that I know we've never met?
And when you were granted your gift of poetry, yours to use,
I confess that I have not read one of them yet.
But the life of a poet is often a cruel one,
Fame just dances with you, then passes you by.
And many never see greatness when it comes,
They laud it enough after the Poet has died.
So I'll sing you a song full of laughter and harmony,
And give you your roses while you can enjoy their perfume.
Perhaps like myself, your poetry will never make you lots of money,
And you have enough rejection slips to fill up a room.
Some say that the eyes are the window that leads to the soul:
You can learn a lot about a person from reading the lines they wrote...

I am amazed and shock-ed - how great a poet are you, WOW!!!! :) :) And to do that for my birthday? you are too sweet, and i must get to work on accruing as many rejection slips as fast as possible to round out this sonnet! (Then perhaps upon my demise Admin can publish my poems, hunh? LOL :D)

Just the other day I was wondering about you. Hope all is well! :)Scher, it was nice. I had classes, but it was one of our lighter days. My family and friends called, and I marvelled at being 37 and feeling 12. :D I think I also gained a little wisdom that day; it's okay to grow old, it's a part of life, it's all part of the journey. It felt really nice. Also, I felt as if I'd reached an age of maturity, where I was beginning to qualify as an elder - wishful thinking, no doubt, but a marvelous daydream. :D

Right now I'm doing wonderfully...thanks for keeping me in your thoughts!

where have you been? I miss your poetry. hope all is well, and Happy Birthday!Ahhhh, thanks. Very touched. Your sig, avatar, location all make me feel very happy and peaceful, btw. Just have to tell you. Very uplifting! Makes me want to go to bed (not that it's tiring, only that time of night) and have the sweetest dreams! I am well, and when my babies return from picu* where i've been trying to alter their words, images and phrases, I'll make sure you meet them all. Haven't written in a while, but a month or two ago found something lurking in the noggen and invited it onto paper for some conversation. A little more lately, too.
