in All The Pretty Horses by Cormac McCarthy, blood imagery is very prominent. Blood in horses, blood in people, blood everywhere. One of the things that is suggested is that blood is a defining characteristic of every one and everything. Blood is what makes you, it is pure, but you define what it becomes. There are also themes of violence, family, mexico, and horses. my question for the people here is how does blood rule over the four previously stated motifs? How is blood the driving force in All the Pretty Horses? thanks for any input.

Unfortuantaly it's been some time since I read All The Pretty Horses. So I can't answer your question. But it was a fine if not great novel. I think Cormac MaCarthy is one of the finest writers writng today.
