View Full Version : Delirium

Il Penseroso

Double anguish felt
by man and his drowning clone,
the reflected face
stares in vacant solitude
from the musky bath
of alcohol.

The bottled prisoner soaks
captive to his muddled soul,
and a liquor flows clear
from his taunting glass
reflection,
the portal to his gloom.

A delirious distance
separates art from his creator
until the crash of sense
singles the glowing eyes
to set upon himself.

That image of two men - the drinker and his reflection within the alcoholic drink is brilliant!! It's a great idea - my only encouragement would be to explore the differences, similarities and traits of the two different men even more. This could be a very poignant masterpiece!!:D

That's not really what I was going for. The two (I meant three, one in the tear that when falls awakes the viewer) men aren't meant to be different, what happens in the bottle happens outside. Only a distance exists that must be bridged.

Thanks for reading though, I'm glad you liked it. The idea isn't entirely original, I was inspired by Donne's "A Valediction Forbidding Weeping."

That was brilliant, i especially lvoe the first line "Double anguish felt
by man and his drowning clone". Just amazing imagery in this poem. And no idea is is "entirely original", thats one big point of reading. It inspires you to understand yourself and your creations better. And it serves as a muse. Keep up the good work!
