So what you're basically after is a Library's card catalogue.

I've never heard of such a book, but I don't think it's impossible for it to exist, it's basically just a bibliography of many authors.

Asking at your local library might be one way to find out though, this seems like it'd be the type of book they may need.

And so on... it looks like you're looking for "The Dictionary of Literary Biography" which apparently is upwards of 200 volumes, not all of which deal with classics. Apparently each volume is also over $100.

Be sure to check out our amazon.com coupon section before you buy.

Im hoping someone can furnish me with a reference to a book-(non-fiction) that would give lists probably by author or title of every author of literature and the entire list of their life's work.Dont want reviews or whatever-maybe entries would look like

eg Dickens, Charles
Pickwick Papers ,Oliver Twist ,Old Curiosity Shop ,Martin Chuzzlewit ,Hard Times ,Barnaby Rudge ,Little Dorritt ,Great Expectations ,Bleak House ,David Copperfield ,Tale of Two Cities ,Our Mutual Friend ,Mystery of Edwin Drood, etc

Dickenson, Emily

and so on...

Would simply be an exhaustive list.
Does anyone know of such a book or any similar variations and if so the title?
Thanking you
Steve

Thankyou Administrator-your efforts are much appreciated.Like you say what I'm after may not exist but you've given me some very good starting points that are very close.
Thanks again
Steve

There is a book published by, I believe, librarians, and it is called
Genreflecting
The way it works is as follows. I am a Lord of the Rings fan, and I have exhausted the book and the movies, so I want something new. I found the book, looked up the fantasy genre, and looked at the list of fantasy books. I found the Shannara series, which is laying in my book bag right now. It said that the series was written to give Lord of the Rings fans more of the same sort of stuff.
Hope that helps!
