Slipping into love
Was the easiest thing.
Effortlessly my feelings drifted,
Following the warm glow,
The beckoning whisper.

Ours was a soft love,
a gentle and quiet love;
A love that spoke in whispers
Or not at all.

Tumbling out of love
Is the hardest thing.
Reluctantly, we say good-bye,
Accepting the small steps
Leading us to separate lives.

Ours is a soft parting,
A simple and subtle parting
Each good-bye is whispered
Until there is none at all.

Oh, Ihrocks! Your poem was so feathery and light until the third stanza: then it just Woke! me up ("tumbling...the hardest thing"), and then it was Sooo nice to slip back into the fourth, though it was a goodbye...so comforting...

I would have preferred a impetuous ending. Conflict is a good thing.

I can see your point, sloegin, but unfortunately, I don't create so much as I report (all those years of journalistic training). You get the ending as I lived it.

Poetry = the poor person's therapy
