With 2006 almost over, what high profile individual/s (be it from entertainment, writing, politics, religion, etc.) most irritated and annoyed you this year (compared to others) and please give a valid (serious or humorous) reason why, for each person/s named.

Just about everyone in Hollywood. If I hear "TomKat" one more time...

I second that. Paramount (or whichever one he worked for) dropped him for being so weird. Also, his latest Mission Impossible movie didn't do so well, but in my opinion, that's not "Tomkat's" fault. I think those movies have run their course and no one wants to see them anymore.

I third that. However, I cannot leave out Paris Hilton, Joan and Melissa Rivers and Dr. Phil. All supremely irritating.

Tom Cruise, Simon Cowell, Chantelle, Paris Hilton, Nikki from BB and David Guest- probably the most irritating and pointless celebrities of this year

Alot of people I shouldn't mention do to forum rules... an I totally respect that. I agree with every single one you've listed above, this Hollywood drama could drive me crazy. But mainly I think of Icelandic people, both writers and I have to say Miss World... last year it was an Icelandic girl who won, and everything they write about her here is irritating. My list could go on forever....

Sacha Baron Cohen, aka Ali G, aka Borat.

Somebody whose name we can't say because it would go against the forum rules.
Actually quite a lot of these kind of people.

Sacha Baron Cohen, aka Ali G, aka Borat.I fully apologize for dodging forum rules, Scher. But you can't deny it was a neat trick, hee-hee. ;) Other than my rightfully deleted post, I really can't say. I really don't care who is married to whom in Hollywood, or which rock star/sports figure just got arrested again. But Paris Hilton is a pain at that! :flare:

I have to say, I was quite irritated when I found out Kenneth Lay died this year. He deserved to spend a little time in jail and then he goes and dies! (I am not sure that there is an emoticon here that appropriately conveys my feelings on this matter).

who's Kenneth Lay?
oh yeah: David Beckham, because he puked all over the pitch when he should have been fighting for the glory of England! Sissy
(it's not that I particularly like the English team, but he could have tried anyway!)
Victory Beckham/Posh Spice: because she's ugly  *irrational*
all the other high profile people who annoyed me are politicians, so I won't mention them.

Kenneth Lay was the CEO of Enron, which is an American company that doesn't exist anymore because they committed accounting fraud and the employees who worked there lost their jobs and all their retirement savings because of him and Andy Fastow (cheif financial officer). He was found guilty of securities fraud in May 2006 and then he died in July before he ever served time.

Well I can't say ALL celebrities get on my nerves....just all the paparazzi about them...the stupid gossip magazines and such. There are interviews I enjoy reading, and their are celebrities I really look up to (such as Reece Witherspoon).

yep, that's what I meant basically :) Although I admit that my best friend and me read the stupid gossip mags at Starbucks once a week for a laugh :)
The sad part is when wanna-be posh ladies come up to us and ask "Excuse me, could I have Cosmo?" and then go on to seriously discuss who divorced whom :)

Not so much a high profile person, but I find those TV commercials for the phone service "Vonage" completely horrid.

Yeah, I can't stand it either! How do you get that jingle or song out of your head once it gets in there? If I see one of those commercials come on I immediatlely change the channel or else I will be hearing that for the rest of the day!

Yeah, the same happens to me. Sometimes I have to put on MTV or the radio to hear some other song to get stuck in my head. Sometimes you just can't win...

The same ones that have been the bane of American culture for the past several years, God have mercy on any other country that has been subject to that name; I speak of the Kardashians.
