The day was good,
The air was fine,
As I stood,
This task was mine.

My duty to stand,
Outside and see,
With nothing to hand,
Just Them and me.

I summoned my strength,
For the battle that dawned,
I stretched to full length,
And confronted the horned.

They breathed the smoke,
Of items banned,
Then I spoke,
With power to hand.

I cast off my shroud,
Stood tall,
And proud,
But still swift was my fall.

They broke me down,
With their poisoned tongues,
With shattered crown,
And tired lungs.

I sought a fast retreat,
From this perilous group,
For I feared they would eat,
My flesh in a soup.

A compromise made,
And a blind eye turned,
How my courage did fade,
How my face burned.

Ashamed and shocked,
My confidence lost,
How they must have mocked,
Oh how my actions had a cost.

Then along he came,
In armour bright,
To stop their sick game,
An unlikely knight.

He fought that beast,
While I fled,
T’was done at least,
Never again I said.

(I wrote this poem today to try and get over an incident that happened at lunch time. It's just been thrown together really, so most of the rhymes are sloppy. I haven't submited any poetry before, so I decided to submit this. As of yet, I'm stuck for a title. I'm not even sure it deserves a title. I just felt like posting it to see what people think of it.)

Nice!! Every action has a cost and a reward - even theirs - at least you can look forward to the inevitable good that will come because of the courage you showed. True friendship will conquer any temporary loneliness you now feel - just stay true to what you know is right!!:D

Very nice poem.

Thanks. It relates to my first day of prefect duty. I was stationed in thr playground at the back of the school (The worst place to start your first day) There were two dangerous incidents that I had to let slide, because I either didn't see who did them or (in the case of the one that climbed the roof to get a football) they were absorbed into the crowd before I could get a good look at them. Having let these things slide, I was determined to confront some lower years smoking in the car park. To cut a long story short, they ate me alive. and I suppose I was in a kind of state of shock.
Anyway. Putting that behind me now, I know what to do next time (if there is a next time) And, having complained about it to the proper person, and having him complain to the proper people, Lunch times should get safer now.
Which just enforces my belief that for everything bad that happens, something good happens, eventually.:D

They'v taken her liver
One lemonade and Smirnoff to many
She'll cry for days

She'll spend a fornight on the wing
No one will visit
Someone pissed on the door step
