General Writing section// essay help etc

would it be possible to split the general writing section up into two sections?

a) members' literarry stories and questions about story writing
b) "help me with my essay, proofread my job application etc"

I've just browsed through general writing to see if there are any interesting stories to read and half the material is requests for help with essays and other non-literary writing (plus the titles can be misleading or vague, so you don't know if it's a story or Help! thingy)

Great idea Sleepy.. once it is set up, when us mods have some spare time now and then we can start to move the topics to appropriate subforums to clean it up in there a bit :)

I enjoy offering assistance to folks, I have this BA in English somewhere in my desk but...lets just say I find it satisfying to share what little I may know. But that's just little ol me. I totally agree with you in terms of making a division in the forum. I would even suggest that there be some rules,guidelines,suggestions posted for those seeking editorial/critical-analytical help. It is fine for folks to seek out other peoples thoughts, feedback etc but it can easily move into the area of "hey...I spent the last week partying and now I really need to be rescued..." I really have no idea what kind of rules, suggestions, would work. Just a thought or two from a newbie here who loves this website. Much applause to whoever created it...do tell me who you are...better yet...is there anyway for me to findout a bit of the history/background to this www place

The General Writing section

is for general questions about the topic of writing, or say, if someone is writing a resume, essay, working on a novel etc. and wants to share part of it, get feedback etc. they can post it there (as opposed to the Short Story area):

The majority of homework help topics/pleas for assistance seem to be posted in the specific author sections, like Orwell and Shakespeare so you can check those as well.
