our class has been given an assignment... to write papers on the symbolism in the scarlet letter... I will gladly steal any info you guys want to waste your time in giving me :-D

there is a ton of symbolism in that book.....unfortunatly I read it like 6 years ago and can't remember any of the symbolism.

i can't 1. remember the symbolism 2. figure out why anyone should have to be tortured with hawthorne. my condolences.

Well you can start with the rose in the first chapter and look at the characters as symbols themselves. (sorry only hints)

God its been a long time since I read that. But the little girl (cant remember names) is symbolic of her sin. I remember one scene where she's playing with some seaweed and makes an 'A' on herself with the seaweed to look like her mom or somthing. That scene is crucial when your writing about symbolism. It was so long ago though. grr.

There is lots of symbolism in this book. The rose, the woods, the dog, etc etc.
