Hi everyone, just joined you. Can anyone please, please tell me, did one of the war poets use a line in a poem, 'I don't want to die here, I don't want to die here alone? I'm writing an english essay at the moment and it would be helpful if I could find out. I know the Irish singer/songwriter used it in one of his songs about a soldier but I have a feeling he stole it from a war poet. Hope some clever well read person out there knows.

It would help to know what war the poem refers to. A quick search for the parameters on google turned up nothing. One site I use for War Poetry is

This site is really for WW1 trench poetry.
However, with your mention of an irish singer/songwriter leads me to think this may be a more recent poem written about the "troubles" in N.Ireland.
