Without an iota of doubt; everyone one know that; this year, God has blessed Lit. Net. Forum with estimable, creditable, educated, good-writers, deep-thinkers, etc members. Though, I don't know of the past 'cuz I wasn't a member then.

Yesterday I was in bed, about to sleep when an idea revered in me of taking a poll of Lit. Net. Forum Top Notches. However, I once read one thread's context on this issue. But, that thread I was talking about was posted since last year, wasn't it?

Thus, how do you think this idea can work? And moreover, how do look at the pros and cons of it?
....waiting for your observations.

-Muhsin

How this works Madhuri?

Well, its just like any other pagent, people come on stage and showcase their talent, question answer sessions and the winner is announced.

I don't quite understand how this can be applicable here Madhuri?

The same concept will not be applicable here and since it is a literary website I am not sure how well this will be recieved, but if it was organised keeping in tune with what this site is about then maybe....

I also think that perhaps such an assement will be unfair, as not everyone has the same base, some newcomers are beginners, some experts.

Embarassed if nominated for anything?

How about 'best' at "Posting a lot of pictures, teaching others to post pictures, linking to your own thread concerning posting pictures, and still, somehow, amazingly enough, managing not to post your own picture??" :D ;)

That's a big title - it would fill up your LitNet mantle. :D

I found it laudable, and of course agreed with Kathy. My post was entirely facetious.

Why not yours? Real ones I mean as pontified Shorty?

That one wasn't "real." It was just a joke.

Thanks for the approach.
But, if I say to 'inspire' someone to contribute more meaningfully in the Forum so as to someday be the Top Notch of it I think is along the line. Right?

It would be the wrong kind of contribution, I think. People should be here for a variety of different reasons, not one of which is either ambition or competition.

kathycf

Well I don't think you really mean what you said. Do you really feel that content? To me, it sounds strange.
It has nothing to do with contentment, and ShoutGrace pointed out that he meant his remark about me to be humorous. Yes, I did mean what I said. To assume that I am simply saying that to "rest on my laurels" (contentment) or "have sour grapes about not being chosen" (spoilsport) is simply unfair and insulting. Why should someone's insecurity or self doubt seem strange? I hate being singled out and I would feel guilty because I think there are so many wonderful people here and to single one out as "best" would be a misnomer. I won an academic award in school many years ago and was absolutely horrified at having to get up and walk to the stage in front of the whole school. Other people's feelings may be different from your own, but that doesn't make them "strange".

Why not yours? Real ones I mean as pontified Shorty? As I pointed out in my post in that thread (rather clearly, I thought) I was sorting though some pictures in my online album and found a few. I thought it would be funny to post them along with a picture of my own eyes. I did not post one of my actual face because I don't have any stored on a computer. Why question me about my posting a picture, when I don't think you have posted one of your own?

*edit* It occurs to me now (thanks David :) ) that maybe some of this is due to a language misunderstanding/miscommunication. As such, I don't mean to come down on you so hard, Goodfella. I have to admit, I can be pretty defensive (but I still wish to make the points I did, so I am not changing the wording of what I wrote earlier.)

Sorry, muhsin. I just don't agree with you here. People should feel free to post however they like (obviously within forum rules). If somebody likes to play the forum games, then they should be free to do that without value judgements from other members. Maybe someone who posts only about "serious" topics may have something more meaningful to say in the grand scheme of things, but we all contribute to the forum in one way or another. :)

Shoutgrace (Shouty, Grace, David, etc.) You have been a rock an inspiration. I'd vote for you.

Robin, little brother and fellow comic geek would get my vote.

Night, my smiling little sister, you'd get a vote for sure!

Virgil and Adil, my fellow poets, moe votes.

From forgoing replies, I learnt that LitNet had really missed number of people. How things happen in such a way? Are they dead, bored of the Site, or just left the town for hamlet where there is no access to internet?

We hope some of those enteemed members will (if they find it possible) soon be backed on board.

Hi, Muhsin, and welcome to LitNet. Pendragon, The Mad Poet and Uncle to the younger generation, at your service. :)

Jakobin unfortunately passed away last year quite suddenly. It was a great shock to all of us. Some of the missed people have left for one reason or another, and may return someday. Some have had disciplinary action taken, and are banned from the site. You hate to see this happen, but rules are rules and if you do not obey them, there are consequences. Somewhere out there on the Litnet tonight,
There is someone who will be just right—
They will have a tender loving heart,
And turn a simple friendship into a work of art—
Somewhere in the future that is soon to be,
A future that isn't very clear to me—
They'll be the one who comes along to claim the prize,
As the rest of us watch with adoring eyes—
And I may not even know them by name—
But it doesn't mean they don't deserve the fame,
So good luck to everyone one of us whoever we are—
Out here on the LitNet wandering like bright little stars!

Ah, the story of David Pendragon is an odd one. He is a descendant of Arthur and has been raised in Avalon by his Fey mother, who wishes him to quest for Excalibur against the wishes of Morgan le Fey, his many-times-removed aunt, to restore Camelot for the return of Arthur. That is my original storyline, anyway, mostly still in outline form. But yes, David, Earl of Pendragon would grant assylum to you at court, and grant you your rightful status. :) Right, Arthur? ;)

Yay!! MissCaroline is back!!

Okay, from now on, I'm calling you just Caroline, for ease of reference. If that turns out to be too long, I'll probably start snipping vowels.

No problem - I can shapeshift into Obi-Wan Kenobi. No chastity belt can withstand a lightsaber. Of course, that's a little like trimming loose threads with a vibro-pike...a smidgen excessive, eh?

But I'm really glad to be back...How many times do I have to say MC before you all catch on??? Ah, well... I suppose Caroline shall do if I am to become a lady of the Arthurian court, although I can't say I wouldn't mind becoming one of its knights as well. I'm rather good with weapons!:D

Does display count if you use them to display blood of someone who is in severe need of being displayed??? Unprovoked is the wombat's field of expertise... cute and cuddly....)

I display some on stands made for them, some are in the original boxes, and some in drawered cabinets. I don't believe any have blood on them. There is that knife my dad brought back from the Vietnam War, native hand-made, hammered from a file. I have cleaned it up really good, but couldn't guarantee that some remaining stains aren't blood. I don't think so... That thing is sharp, I will say that! :D
