This is a thread for all Bible students, to share the great discoveries they have made within the Bible

2 Kings 6:1-7 has a story where Elisha and the sons of the prophets go to cut down wood in order to build themselves a house.

One persons axe head comes off and falls into the water

Elisha breaks off a branch, throws it in the same place and the axe head comes up and floats on the water

Now we go down to Jesus' time

John the Baptist in declaring Jesus to come, speaks in a metaphor

Luke 3:9 "..Now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees" Referring to Jesus which was to come, as the Axe(or Axe head)

Also many times in different prophetic books Jesus is referred to as "The Branch" the branch of David, if we go to Zechariah 6:12 we can see one mention there "..behold the man whose name is The Branch.."

So Jesus is both referred to as "The Branch" and the Axe head

So the Axe head goes down and then is made to rise again by the branch in the initial story with Elisha

It is the same with Jesus, when we look at John 10:17-18 we see there

"therefore doth my father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again"

"..I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again.."

So in the Old Testament with Elisha we have a paralleled event in symbols with the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus in the New Testament.

Incidentally Jesus also walked on the water :) Although I haven't really thought of how that ties in, but it no doubt does.

So who has some others to share?
