Poe wrote a critical essay of which he harshly opined on Ellery Channing's poetry, but with classic Poe wit. Channing was regarded as the poet primiere out of his transcendendalist circle, even though today Emerson and Whitman recieve more regard.
I would very much like to read this article in its entirety. It was published in Graham’s Lady’s and Gentleman’s Magazine [v23 #2, August 1843] Titled: "Our Amatuer Poets" by, of course, Edgar Allen Poe.
