i've been trying to improve my spanish. i started learning it way back when, but i have yet to speak it properly. of the few spanish movies i've watched, i really liked el diablo de espinoza and el dia de bestia. though strange as it is, i don't really like horror flicks.

as for music, i only know of shakira. :(

Gipsy Kings are really good. You can try Pedro Almodovar movies. They two are true Spanish. You can also try to listen Buena Vista Social Club and watch Fernando Solanas movies. But they are not true Spanish (one Cuban, other one Argentinian) so there may be accent differences.

Almodovar, Sauras and Bunuel are the most famous Spanish directors, I'm not a fan but you should check out their films.

Santa Sangre is a wonderfully surreal Spanish movie!
Carlos Nunez and Chucho Valdes are a couple well known Spanish musicians I like. I also listen to a lot of flamenco music.

:( indeed.
Try Soda Stereo, or Charly Garcia.

For movies, Roma and Nueve Reinas are good choices.

Your guess is right. I was referring to Adolfo Aristarain's Roma. More about it here (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0383862/).

Ah yes, this makes more sense considering the context. Thanks for the information, it looks good, reminds me a bit of Bergman's "Wild Strawberries".
