years ago I read a novel about a woman who lived in a neighborhood. She is disgruntled with one of her neighbors due to the noise he creates. Turns out he is a policeman or detective, she drives a Plymouth Prowler car and I believe has a dog. Her home is broken into and either he comes to stay at her house or vice versa. There is a sense of humor in the story and I thought it was a Jennifer Crusie novel, but I haven't been able to connect it with Jennifer Crusie.
