In the games forum, if you are the final contributor to a thread, are you the winner or the loser or doesn't it matter?

It doesn't matter as long as I get my say in.

I used to like geting in the last word when 'discussing' matters with kids but the victories were usually hollow. In the religious forums I tend to simplify statements that I think might generate a remark and zip. If we dwell on this too long the drama queen starts towards the front of the stage:

1. Well after all you don't post much why should they notice you.

2. Maybe if you stated facts and quotes other then your 'interesting' soap opera experiences the thread would continue.

3. Leave Robinhood 3000 alone -- no one reads the Avengers anyway--they're all X-Men trolls.

4. It couldn't be that your final post was possibly the very finest last remark that could possibly be expected to be arrived at on these most important matters that YOU have decided to notice.

---Enter the long suffering wife --'Are you ever going to bed or you watching Lisa Nova on YouTube again??

Ye Dear--Good night posters--I will return. Fortunately lawn mowing season is about over so my pending heart attack is probably delayed until April.

...in part due to your special abilities, no doubt!

Getting in the last word doesn't mean you won. Ask anyone who has been pulled over by a policeman. You will probably get in the last word, but it will be "Yes, Sir!" as he strides away after either warning you or telling you to be in court on a given day. Nor does not getting in the last word mean you loose. The person you are debating with may just hang him or herself with that last word, proving you right all along!

I laughed; I cried. ... :D

Whifflingpin, 'getting the last word' in a topic is also sometimes called 'threadkiller', a title which I for one often achieve :p

The long suffering spouse is horrified!!! Oh no --his dream has come true: Logos has noticed him at last--why does she have to wear GLASSES he can't resist GLASSES and now there will be no end to his preening and smirking I'll have to listen to until he thinks of a comeback for Robinhood (who she thinks is so much funnier). The lawn may not need mowing but I can still make him do dishes.

Told you all my victories are hollow.
