Do you mean "realistic novel?"
The simplest definition will be a novel which is based on reality (reality means facts), is called a realistic novel.

Belinskiy, the greatest theoretician of realism would say:'' Typical men in typical situation!''

The term as I understand it a story in which the tale is told in such a manner as an insurance claims adjuster or police report would tell it--just the facts--no embroidery--no layers. Have found this stuff dull as doing dishes trying for brownie points with the wife who's been on to that trick for years.

A type of novel that places a strong emphasis on the truthful representation of the actual world

I'm thinking it's a novel whose significance derives from the real and actual - if not necessarily the "ordinary" - rather than from whacked-out turns of events that are basically determined by the author's whim. I think the literature people categorize like this tends to have a stronger emphasis on character than, say, plot or scenario. I must again default to Henry James; that's sort of what he did, if you need examples.

If you need an example, works of Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Hugo...

you can search on Realism, you're gonna find plenty of books and websites.
Realist novels are kind of modern novels and one of the most famous writers for such novels is: Virginia Wolf, you can read her To the LightHouse to see how realist novels work.
