I don't mind reading anything by Poe either... Actually maybe we can give The Fall of The House of Usher? I think it was Virgil who was mentioning it?

No thats fine.
Basically its a really short story that can be read 'live' while whoever are participating are on msn. and at the same time we are all on the litnet so the conversation is supposd to cross between the 2. Which is why time zones are important. last year I managed it so we had the Us, uk and australia in converstaion but pensy couldnt join in as it started at 5am her time.

But it was great fun so any more nominations please?:D:D

I'll take part, unless you do it in between 8.pm and 3 a.m. (GMT+1) because I'll be busy downing 3 pints of cider, 1 pint of guinnes and 7 shots of liquor around this time   (Halloween Party at an Irish Pub, not a good idea, actually)..
does msn come for free with windows? I dunno if my bf has got it on his computer...

You can actually use any email account for MSN but they 'prefer' you had msn/hotmail one. You get Windows Messenger by default with Windows (that's a bit different from MSN messenger but at the same time the same thing... and quite a bother - or at least used to be - to be rid of it if you get the MSN Messenger one).

SleepyWitch
10-18-2006, 09:06 AM
sure, Night, why not? (I was exaggerating anyway :) I think 1 pint of guiness will be enough for a whole year :))
thanks for the technical info you too :)
don't mind me, I'll join if the time is OK and if it isn't I won't :)

So, I have no idea what 'The Call of Cthulhu' is about but I dreamt about this story! :eek2:

In my dream, Cthulhu was a creature like an octopus and I was supposed to collect its suckers... Now, I have to read this story to find out what it is all about.

Are we supposed to read the story before that night, or are we supposed to wait until that night and discuss it together as we read?

Edit - Boy I feel stupid. I looked up the story and it is pretty long. I guess we will need to read it before that night. Sorry for the stupid question...

No we read it on the night, not actually live but just before we go live so its still fresh its not long http://www.dagonbytes.com/thelibrary/lovecraft/thecallofcthulhu.htm or you can read it in advance but and I stress this as it was ignored by a few people last year DO NOT discuss it on the forum until AFTER the live chat

Thats fine kathita basically we read the story then discuss it, rip it to shreds, weave aimlessly through various topics with me attempting to keep us on course for about 5 hours or until I give up and fall asleep.

Ack, how unfortunate I can't participate, after having nominated Lovecraft, which seems to be winning story, but I'm not voting if I can't partake, and I forgot all about the barbeque too. :eek2: Talk about being distracted

Don't worry though, I'll read the story, and offer my wonderful insights. Yes, you got that right, they will be wonderful, ranging from obscure to outright foolishness. That's me, can't be helped. :)
