question 2: violence begets violence.

question 5: more so. Edgar epitomizes physical and emotional fragility, and he's the object of a neurotic's contempt for life.

Heathcliff (in my opinion) is speaking of Catherine. Catherine has ignored his feelings for her in her attempt to climb the ladder of status. She is the 'tyrant' e is referring to, and he is the 'slave' as he has devoted his life to her, and would die for her in a moment. He would never 'turn against' her, as his love runs too dearly (hence why he cannot harm Catherine's daughter Cathy in Volume 2, Chapter 19). So instead, he grinds down those below him, those whom he has destroyed their lives - Edgar, Hindley, Isabella and in the beginning Hareton.

Just my opinion on that, hope it helps :P
