Hi,
I need help with a school project. It's an independent study project, and I need a novel that I can compare to "The Stranger" by Albert Camus. It has to be a novel that was written in another language first and then translated to English (World Literature). Has anyone read "The Stranger", that can tell me a good book I could do (World Literature), that after reading I could compare the themes in the two different novels? I have to write a comparative essay after on the two books I read. Any recommendations. Thanks :)!

Regards,

Strangely enough, I felt echoes of Mr. Camus as I was reading Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment. You might try that. Other than that, it seems to me that The Stranger is pretty stand-alone.

I read The Stranger long ago. And, I remember I recalled Hemingway's Sun Also Rises when reading it. Most of Hemingway's main characters can be seen as "strangers".

You should compare "The Stranger" with Franz Kafka's "The Metamorphosis". I think they are very similiar. Especially the second half of "The Stranger".
