Drizzle
Yang Zhiming
I was in the middle of a Chinese boxing session inYuyuantan Park Beijing, on the early morning of 23 February 2002,( Chinese lunar calendar )when it started to drizzle. A wet thin veil of mist which spread over the landscape reminded me that the Qingming Jie (lit. Day of Brightness) had already come.
Thus, what was intended to be an hour of intense physical exercise turned into a short period of poetic musing. The following verse documents the sentiments and moods that were aroused in me.

Above a still water pond a cloud brings the sky low,
Few sightseers seen but sparrows cry, n’ crows crow.
The drizzling saddens snow-white cherries to drop,
And emerald willows shed their tears in a deep dole.

Spring and Autumn
poem by yang zhiming
Before dawn as I was woken,
Tears of joy were out sprung.
A dream in autumn brought to me,
A landscape of an early spring.
While my eyes were open,
My heart was shaken;
For the rising sun and peach blossoms
Were just an illusion.
An Illusion! An Illusion! An Illusion!

At the mid-autumn night,
No moon or stars were seen.,
Cold rain and soughing wind,
Only presented a bleak scene.
Trees dead
Flowers rotten,
Falling leaves here and there,
Blown and trodden.
Trodden! Trodden! Trodden!

my story
poem by yang zhiming
As I travel through my life on my way,
Many a tough round I ‘ve experienced without stable stay.
I ask myself as of today,
Why the sorrow more than clouds heavy and water vast,
In my heart grows so fast!
That with the books in my hands fine,
I want to trade for a cart of sweet wine.
Then I ‘ll go back home sleep and dine.
And I know I have no trick to play,
Though days still idle away.
I eat veg, meat and drink sound,
While thinking about the future with no bound,
When there shall be a song of praise, I long,
Sure! I ‘ll ride on the storm so big and strong,
That washes all frustrations and troubles in this world away,
You ‘ll see my noble spirit singing on the Milky Way!
Of tomorrow road I take a wider view,
All the hard cliffs await me to fly over and start anew.
