It's a bit late, but there's still time;

Today is international peaceday! Happy Peace day! here, the day is being celebrated by dancing people on the streets of copenhagen...i wish i was there.

It's the day of the year, where all nations must lay down their arms, so that aid workers can get through. It's such a wonderful thing, to be able to celebrate this day, in the midst of all the wars we are experiencing.

Well, go out, be peacefull, and even though you don't live in Conpenhagen, go on out there! And dance in the streets with someone you love!

Happy 21st of September!

I think I must be getting too cynical or something. None of this seems to matter or make any difference anymore.

Yay! happy days. :brickwall I think there are still lots of people fighting in the world.

Forgive me for not celebrating peace when the fighting gets picked up the next day. It seems a bit hollow to me. Why have an international day of peace when there is no peace in the world? Seems a bit self deluding to me, as if celebrating peace will make war go away. :)

Sorry to spoil it for you, but this is what I think about an international peace day.

It's a nice thought but so far from global reality.. :cold:
I watch the news maybe once a month.

Only one day?

All United Nations member countries agreed that September 21, the International Day of Peace, should be observed as a Global Ceasefire and day of peace and nonviolence. (United Nations Resolution 55/282).

The problem seems to lie with the other 364 days. No offense Chava, I think it is a fine sentiment. I wish powerful countries felt the same....

Actually, to be fair, I believe the whole project was launched by one guy, who wanted to make the world a better place. So he went out to all the different governmental leaders and asked them to sign a petition that they would hold a ceasefire regardless, on that day.
He then met with Kofi Annan, and it was motioned in the UN. Then it became official.
So for what it's worth, i think the symbolic effort of one man, going through years of work, to try and change one day in the lives of millions of people, i've got to give him the thumbs up, :thumbs_up
