I just joined a little while ago,and felt that if I provided some information about myself that it might encourage some feedback.
I was born in Rome,Italy during the war in 44.Very lucky to come to America as a ten year old kid.I chased the American dream and climbed the corporate ladder.I had plenty of excuses that I could have used, as many have done, not to succeed. No Dad,poor and certainly could not speak the language.
However, with some luck, and a guidance from my High School Coach(He made sure I completed school)I graduated and dove in the corporate world.
I had my share of success and disappointments, but all in all,I did ok.
I retired at 54 and through the encouragement of a good buddy ,I was talked into writing my memoir. It is titled "I Wouldn't Die".
Amazingly the LA Times and many others felt it was well written and a story that needs to be read by many.I hope that this group gives it a shot and just look it over at Amazon as you can read quite a bit for free.
The reviews led to key speaking engagements at washington,DC, Libraries all over the North East as well as a few Universities and Fort Belvoir.
I say all this only because I came to America as a foreigner, and wanted to take advantage of all the opportunities provided to all in America. My Mother waited 7 years for our paperwork to be approved.I became a Naturalized citizen as soon as I was allowed. Now,I am giving back by attending all these events for FREE!!.and advising as many readers the importance of an education, and the great fortune we all have living in America.
Thanks for allowing me to post on your group.
