You are so majestic, regal, and refined as you have guarded the
Valley of the Kings for a long long time
I have learned they say you could be ten thousand years old
You standing here in all your glory in a desert that in as silent as
a mime
Your purpose over time has never been defined, as you stand in the
sun shimmering on the desert sand that at times looks like gold.
No one knows who had the ancient expertise to build you
If only you could talk, I wonder what secrets would be told
You stood here as the pyramids were built, holding up your head so
proud and true
I bet if you could talk, all the secrets you hold you could virtually
explode.
You saw ancient Egyptians in their every day life
You saw Napoleon and others as they rode by
You saw the ancients, their life, their death, and every day strife
To figure you out the greatest scholars have tried.
I bet you could tell us who built you, if you could only talk
The secrets of the ancients and those of all times could be ours
Did you instill fear into those that would dare defy you, the
guardian, oh, if only you could talk.
Were you once worshiped by a cult we know nothing of?
Still today we are trying to figure out why you are here
Head of a pharaoh, body of a lion which signifies your strength, I
bet you were worshiped and loved
Oh, if you could talk, then, everything would be very clear.
