I'll admit before I start that I haven't read the play. I just started Aeschelyus this summer and am doing Promethus this term. However, I am familiar with it and even more so with the myth itself. So to answer your question, I would have to saIy free will. Symbollically, it is free will that Promethus gave to man. He is much, to put it in a more popular context, like the biblical snake who coaxed Eve to eat the apple - though there are many differences in the characteristics. Nonetheless, Promethus allows man to be less dependent on their gods and to exercise their own free will.

I hope I'm not really off here (I'm sorry if I am, someone willl chide me for it)
