In my studies, i have found many people that absolutly hate Dickens. However, on the contrary, I find Dickens to be a clever author and find his books to be a very enjoyable read. I think that so many of my peers hate Dickens because they were forced to read him in high school. I find his works to be very enjoyable, one of my favorites being David Copperfield.

I hate english teachers, they force people to overanalise text, perhaps that is why dickens is not my favorite. My fav was the christmas carol.

The christmas carol is indeed a good piece of literature. I would have to agree with you that english teachers force you to overanalize things, that would most likly be their trajic flaw.

I have a feeling more people would apreciate literature if they didn't have to overanalize it. English killed a Bird in the House, for me.

I am sorry to hear that. That is what happens when you waste your time with the violin.

It was that beutifle craft of perfection that saved my sanity, like holmes I just play, and usually get told to go outside.,My family doesn't apreciate perfection. They are philistines. Violins are the classical form of beuty, power and prestige. something brass could never be.

Spoken by one who has never tasted perfection.

Your idea of the violin as a form of "beauty, power and prestige," must have come from a joke book.

yeah, 101 lame brass jokes.

The violin is the instrument of nobility, class, and most importantly...ME .

You know you want the violin back, it is sitting there in the back of your head while the violin slowy weeps, for a violin is pure emotion entombed in wood.

Wilfred

the only pure emotion that the violin entombs in the back of my head is a general pity that it can never compare to the horn.

Wilfred

I also pity the fool who cannot see the violin's worth, its worth of absoutly nothing good.

Tsk, Tsk, don't make me sick mr T after you, The violin is the best, it always is closest to the audiance, and the head of th orchestra sits in the 1st violin chair.

Wilfred

The violin is always closest to the audience because it is so puny they could not hear it otherwise, that is also why ther are so many of them. The head of the orchestra sits in the first violin chair because most orchestras are corrupt. An orchestra with true quality music would only be horns. You know who sits in the first horn chair? The first horn! As for mr T, you can sick him on me, Being a horn player I can handle minor things like this that most violin players would freak out on.

You are just upset that the orchestra acnowledges the power of the violin.

Wilfred

If the orchestra acnowledges the "power of the violin" as you say why do they need so many of them? obviously because they are not powerful enough and thus need large masses of them. One of the main reasons that they have violins in orchestra's is so that people can see the comparison of the two instruments and clearly see that when placed with the violin, the horn is far far superior.

Or they need something to drown out the bent plumbing in the backrow.

Wilfred
12-11-2003, 12:32 AM
That bent plumbing in the back row must be the trumpets. Horns are not made from plumbing, they are made from quality brass, and they sit in the back row because they are more modest and do not cry if they are not in the front where everyone can see them.

Some of us don't hide, because of embarassment we are proud.

So, you are embarrassed thta you play the violin? I would be.

I hate Jane Austen

eeeeeww!! Why would anyone want to play the french horn?
It is the most ugliest, wimpiest instrument. It is worse than the harpsichord. Wilfred, you should take up the violin.

Wilfred

eeeeww!! Why would anyone play anything except the horn, that is the real question here. Wimpy? Take up the violin? I would never do such a horrible, low thing like that.
